It's Monday! What are You Reading?

Jen Vincent and Kellee Moye cohost It's Monday! What Are You Reading weekly on their blogs.   To see what others are reading and recommending each Monday, or to participate, be sure to check out their blogs Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers

Since it is the beginning of our school year, I have not had as much time to read so instead, I'm posting a few books I have read aloud, along with the charts we created, in the first six days of school.
In the first week of school, we read and talked about:

We have also read....

We also started our 1st chapter book read aloud...

Enjoy reading and reading aloud! :)

  1. Hi there Melanie, what a beautiful post. Thank you for linking the picture books with your own reflections on how you used it in the classroom alongside the children's thoughts about the characters and the plot. I haven't read Peter Reynolds "The Dot" yet but I could see that it's been receiving a lot of love as of late. I look forward to borrowing it the next time I visit the library. Thanks for all the recommendations.

  2. Wow, I love seeing you you reflect on the titles, beautiful! Lovely read aloud selections.

  3. Perfect class read aloud! Such a great novel. I love sharing Courage with a class. It is a real treat to see your student reactions. Thanks for this post.
