March Madness Book Edition Update

Two days ago, I shared how one of my students led the way with creating the March Madness Book Edition in our classroom - click here to read the post.   He went home that night and created the brackets on the computer along with a plan of how we could color code the seeds - thank you Ryan!   Yesterday, we wrote our selected 32 books into the brackets, while identifying which books belonged in the eight seeds.

Below is the chart the students created yesterday.  It has the 32 books color coded into eight seeds.  Last night I went to Staples to enlarge the chart so we can have it on one bulletin board to see the process clearly as we begin to narrow the selections down.

Stay tuned! :)

  2. It's just an amazing idea, Melanie. I certainly will share how you've done this with other teachers, & hope they'll start the year with it, or ? Great idea to enlarge at Kinko's. Looks good!

  3. That is SO neat! How will they decide which books make the next bracket?

    1. One of my students volunteered to create the ballots on Google Drive to narrow the titles down. Students circle their favorite title out of the pair and then I tally up the votes to see which title won within each pair. So far we have the Sweet Sixteen and will vote for the Elite Eight at the end of the week! It's exciting!
